New Swift Dzire looks a little better than its predecessor
Come February 1, India’s largest car maker Maruti is all set to launch the ‘new’ Swift Dzire, which it hopes will replicate the success of its predecessor. The company is coming up with a new, shortened version of Maruti Swift DZire, four years after it launched the entry-level sedan in the market.
Although the model will qualify for the excise duty of 10 per cent enjoyed by small cars, the company said it is unlikely that the new version of DZire will be priced lesser than the existing one, which ranges between Rs 4.94 lakh and Rs 7.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Automaker promises ‘most fuel-efficient lineup in company’s history’
This will be the most aggressive year for introducing new global products from five different plat-forms or families of vehicles, Ford CEO Alan Mulally told the North American International Auto Show this week. Mulally made the comments at the global première of the 2013 Ford Fusion and Fusion hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid in Detroit. The mid-size sedan will go into production this summer.

Renault to launch two more models in India in 2012
French automobile manufacturer Renault will launch two more cars in India this year of which sports utility vehicle (SUV) Duster will be one.
In a statement issued by Renault Tuesday, the company said the range of models in India would be expanded with the addition of three new vehicles, including Pulse and Duster. These launches illustrate the brand’s determination to become a major player in this market which forms the third pillar of its international strategy, along with Russia and Brazil.

Maruti working on new model to replace Alto, 800
A new car by Maruti Suzuki, which will take the place of the existing Alto and 800 models in the domestic market, is in the works. The decision of replacing the two popular cars was taken by the company as the general consensus was that both of them were outdated and needed to be changed. The managing director of the company, Shinzo Nakanishi, said that the new model will sport a contemporary look and will be equipped with an 800 cc engine, with fuel efficiency as its USP.

Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) announced today that the company would be launching a range of personal as well as commercial vehicles in the financial year 2012-13.
